Jammin’ on the James Summer free concert series will be held at Wilton House Museum in June, July, and August in 2015

    Join us this summer for free concerts on the grounds of Wilton. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on our scenic terrace overlooking the James River. Enjoy complimentary evening tours of Wilton as well as face-painting, games, and crafts for kids.

    Free admission. All concerts are rain or shine. Donations appreciated.

Operation: Comforts from Home
May 1 – May 31

    In the more than 235 years since the United States declared its independence from Great Britain war has been a part of life that every generation endures. Whether the war is taking place at home or half the world away there are those who give up the comforts of home to fight for a cause greater than themselves. Operation: Comforts from Home honors those who fought for liberty and supports those who continue to fight for liberty. Visitors who bring a new, unopened “comfort” item to Wilton during the month of May will receive complimentary admission to the historic house and exhibitions.

    Minimum 1 (one) item per visitor. A printable list of approved items can be found here. Complimentary tour must be redeemed upon delivery of donation item(s).

This Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, 2015, ten historic homes and museums around Richmond will offer free admission for Time Travelers Weekend. Venues include Agecroft Hall, Maymont’s Dooley Mansion, the Poe Museum, and the White House of the Confederacy. Just show this Time Travelers Passport (either printed or on a mobile device).

    “Richmond’s most renowned historic homes and museums offer visitors a “passport” to time-travel during a special admission-free weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, 2015. Tourists and locals alike are invited to discover the City’s treasures, spanning 400 years of fascinating history and including the homes of John Marshall, Jefferson Davis, John Wickham, Major James Dooley and other important Virginians.

    Ten participating sites – Agecroft Hall, Dabbs House Museum, The John Marshall House, Maymont, Meadow Farm Museum, The Edgar Allan Poe Museum, Virginia House, White House of the Confederacy, The 1812 John Wickham House and Wilton House Museum – will offer complimentary admission to visitors who show a Time Travelers Passport, available via download from websites of participating attractions. Richmond’s only 18th century public plantation home, Wilton was built circa 1753 by William Randolph III. Formerly located about 7 miles below Richmond along the James River, today Wilton and its collections can be found west of the city in Richmond’s West End. Regular admission prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for students.

Join us this spring and summer for our 5th year of concerts at Wilton. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on our grass terrace overlooking the James River. Enjoy walk-through tours of Wilton. Kids will be entertained by face-painting, games, and crafts while parents revel in the sounds of the live melodies.

Parking is sparse (little parking lot and a residential street), and the lawn can get crowded (sit on the far side from the entrance!), so I definitely recommend arriving early!
