For this special event, the Byrd Theatre will be showing both ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ as well as ‘Bridesmaids’ for theatergoers to enjoy at the regular showtimes of 7:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. Bob Gulledge, Byrd Theatre’s ever popular house organist, will be making a special appearance to grace theatergoers with the wonderful tunes of the well-‐known Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

This deal was my husband’s idea. We are dark-chocolate lovers, and he recently suggested heading to For the Love of Chocolate in Carytown to get our fix… then added, “Maybe we should wait until after Valentine’s Day.” Smart man.
Since he had Presidents Day off from work, we braved the slush to visit Cary Court and redeem our Smoothie King Living Social gift card before checking out FTLOC. This was the sign that greeted us just inside the door:
We were greeted by a surprisingly large selection of red heart-themed chocolate, all a whopping 90% off. So for under eleven bucks we acquired these bad boys:
1 canister of Dove dark chocolates, 2 bags of raspberry filled dark chocolate, 4 dark chocolate hearts, 2 oversized lollipops, and the piece de resistance, a tin filled with 36 Godiva chocolates and truffles.
Original price on the Godiva tin was $65! (!) (heart attack). I love chocolate as much as the next girl, but really hoping no one paid that much for a Valentine’s Day present.
Wallet win, waistline lose (or gain..)
But dark chocolate is the healthy kind, right?
I was sorely tempted to buy the whole inventory to save for “presents” but I’m valiantly trying to reform my hoarding ways and, let’s be honest, none of that chocolate would have ever made it out of the house.
This week my son was part of a Valentine exchange for the first time at his preschool.
I had picked up some dinosaur hologram cards last year at a Walmart post-Valentine clearance. I’m sure they were a dollar or less.
But when I gave them to him to get ready for his classmates, my son was frustrated with the lack of space. The two little To/From lines on the back are way too small for the grandiose stylings and indelicate lettering of a four-year-old.
So on a whim I decided to try a craft project I had seen Money Saving Mom post – toilet paper tube heart stamps. Honestly, I didn’t even look up the original post by Rust & Sunshine for details. I just emptied our downstairs bathroom trashcan of its plethora of cardboard toilet paper tubes, dug up some poster paint, dissected a Trader Joe’s paper bag to cover the workspace, and let him stamp away. Not even a smock. I like to live dangerously.
I think they turned out sweet (certainly more interesting and less intimidating than roaring dinos), he had fun, and it’s hard to beat the price of a few pieces of construction paper, a small puddle of paint, and some cardboard that was going to get recycled.
Fellow class moms – those crayoned spiky-looking things on many of the cards are flowers, FYI.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Did you find any deals or raid Pinterest for some crafty goodness lately? And yes, that’s a link to my Pinterest page. I joined last April and haven’t done much with it since then for lack of time.
Stop by the Chick-fil-A location in Chesterfield Towne Center Mall tomorrow, February 14, to pick up a FREE small Icedream ice cream cup or cone!
