This week you have the opportunity to catch TWO different groups performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, both FREE!

Youth performing arts school SPARC SummerStarz ensemble will be performing the musical at a number of venues around town this week. (Trivia: SPARC alum superstar Jason Mraz played the title role in the original production in 1992)

All performances are FREE and open to the public. If you have a large group (10 or more) we suggest you call the location to reserve your seats. (I’d suggest calling to check on ticket procedures even if you’re not in a group)

And the 2012 Dogwood Dell Festival of the Arts will wrap up with Joseph on the main stage at 8:30 p.m. on July 27-29 and August 3-4!

The next three weekends, Henrico Theatre Company will be presenting its 26th Annual One-Act Showcase at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2:30pm, with an additional performance Saturday, Feb 25 at 2:30pm. Admission is free; call 501-5859 for reservations.

The area’s oldest one-act festival will once again feature the winners of the annual HTC One-Act Playwriting Competition. Winning titles are “Four and Twenty Wretched Dates,” “A State of Being Normal,” and “#4 Three Gables Run.
