christmas in july

Free event at Short Pump Town Center this Saturday, July 21, from 10am – 5pm:

Help us spread Christmas cheer a little early this year!

Richmond-based band “Offering”, Short Pump Town Center and 98.9 Liberty are hosting “Christmas in July”. This day-long event features Christmas concerts from local bands and “Christmas in July” specials highlight the need to live out the same generous spirit of giving to those in need in July expressed so well in November and December. All money and food donations benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank. Between 10:00am and 5:00 pm various bands will perform in the Main Plaza at Short Pump Town Center. Join us for Christmas music, bring food donations, and shop in a not-so-winter-yet-oh-so-sweet wonderland while providing support for hungry neighbors throughout Central Virginia. Jen Towner from 98.9 Liberty is among the emcees for the day, along with Santa who will make an appearance as well as various Holiday Children’s Characters!

Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items like canned tuna, peanut butter, and canned vegetables to help those in need. Guests will also enjoy entertaining face painting, a bounce house and several community groups will be hosting activities. In addition, there will be special one-day only sales offers, food & drink samples from the Town Center merchants, fun children’s characters including the Chick-fil-A Santa Cow will be roaming throughout the day and a Christmas themed coloring station will be on hand for kids to enjoy!

Retailers have offered some nice coupons in the past years. Don’t forget your donations for the food bank!

short pump mall

Every Tuesday evening 6-8:30pm in May, Short Pump Town Center will host a live music performance on the lower level near Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The event is called Tuesdays on the Patio, with the idea being that patrons enjoy music with a meal in the outdoor seating of Firebird’s, Lehja, California Pizza Kitchen, or Baker’s Crust. Sounds nice! You could also just pick up a meal at the Food Court and stroll and listen. (Perfect time to use that Seize the Deal Baker’s Crust deal from February!)

    Schedule:

    May 1 – Justin Pachiocco
May 8 – Laura Ann Singh
    May 15 – Crewe D’Bayou
    May 21 – Me & Jo
    May 29 – Adrian Duke

Friday is the start of sales-tax-free weekend here in Virginia. The government’s idea is for you to do your back-to-school shopping then. My suggestion is to hit the summer clearance racks.

*Definitely YMMV because this isn’t an advertised price* but I happened to see these at the Short Pump Kroger this morning. They were marked with a sale sign, regular price is $11.79.

It’s a pretty phenomenal deal if this is a brand you’ll use, especially with diaper prices taking a hike recently. My target price is $6 or less for a jumbo pack of Huggies or Pampers, but that’s with coupons and sometimes complicated deals. Plus, this deal is a mega pack – 60 size 3’s or 52 size 4’s.
