Kids can earn a free book (from a couple options) from Barnes & Noble this summer when they read 8 books

    Here Is How:
    Step 1. Read any 8 books and record them in the Reading Journal (PDF).

    Step 2. Bring the completed Reading Journal to your local B&N store.

    Step 3. Choose a FREE BOOK from our selection on the Reading Journal list at the store… Enjoy reading!

Reading is so delicious and it’s tasty fun for the whole family this summer! Sign up at your neighborhood library beginning June 16. (New this year- teens register online.) Read and mark your progress by listing books on your reading log.
Children- 10 books
Read to Me- 30 books
Teens- 5 books
Adults- 5 books
Complete the program and you’ll receive a cinch bag plus a chance to win a Kindle Fire®! The program ends August 4th.

Adults, kids, and teens can register online. Receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A ice dream for signing up, and be entered to win prizes when you complete the program. Adults also get a coupon for a free book at their library’s book sale. Program runs through August 31.

There will be kick-off concerts with Hope Harris at 4 locations next week.

Chesterfield County

Dream Big! Children’s Summer Reading Program
– Pick up a Summer Reading registration packet at your branch library. Keep track of the books you read on your Summer Reading log. Return to the library with your Treasure Chest Pass and get a prize. Once you have read at least 10 books or read for at least 10 hours, bring your reading log to the library and get your completion packet, visit the treasure chest, and enter the grand prize drawing. Your completion also helps earn meals for shelter animals, courtesy of Southern States.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Festival – Saturday June 16, 5pm at the Central Library, 9501 Lori Rd
Calling all knights, fairies, princesses, lords and ladies! Wear your costumes and come kick off Chesterfield County Public Library’s summer reading program. This year’s festival is a sunset celebration of dreams, moonlight, and the power of books. There’ll be amazing fire-hoop tricks, juggling, an outrageous children’s musical combo, balloon creations, fun fortune-telling, face painting and more. No registration is required for this free, family-friendly event. Lawn chairs are welcome. For more information call 804-751-CCPL.

collect your summer reading kit anytime during the week beginning monday, june 11th.

in it, you will find:

1 reading log (for recording your titles)

1 pencil (because writing and reading go hand-in-hand)

1 pack of book notes (to mark your page and draw your book-inspired ideas)

then read your ten books and check in with us twice:

after five books, take a lucky dip in our grab bag.

after ten books, collect a voucher for a free donut from our favorite new sweet spot, dixie donuts.

and if you’re still reading? for each 5 books beyond that, earn a spot in our raffle for free books!

need some title ideas? we’ll have recs from young readers on display, and you can purchase any of your summer reading titles that week at 15% off. (we just love to sweeten the pot!)
