Brad and I met up with some RVA News staff and contributors for happy hour at Garnett’s Cafe last week. Out of character for me, I didn’t do my research ahead of time to find out the details of their happy hour specials. And I ordered a glass of wine at the bartender’s recommendation without even asking how much it was! I tried the Ventoux and it was delicious.
Turns out, it was only three bucks during happy hour, regularly $7 a glass. Every night from 4-6pm, Garnett’s has $3 beer and wine.
Garnett’s also has a nice date night special right now: Any two menu items and a bottle of Virginia wine for $30 from 6-9pm
Then on Sunday, we picnicked at Maymont in the lovely fall weather. Because I picked up a Maymont membership with my free Cultsha bucks at the Cultsha Xpo in June, we were able to ride the park tram for free. And ride we did. At the end of an hour, my older son STILL didn’t want to get off.
Even if you aren’t members, the $3 adult/$2 child tram fee is a good value if you’re spending an afternoon exploring Maymont, particularly if you have little ones who get a thrill out of it! Maymont is a big place, so it can be convenient to catch a lift to another part of the park. You’ll receive a hand stamp on your first ride, so you can get back on anytime that day.
Saturday – Sunday, 12 – 5pm
$3 adults; $2 children; Members free
The tram makes a continuous loop with stops approximately every 20 minutes at the Children’s Farm, Nature & Visitor Center, Japanese Garden, Maymont Mansion and the Hampton Street entrance. Private rides available by reservation.
Please Note: There is a required minimum of six passengers for the tram to remain in operation. Call in advance to confirm tram availability on the day of your visit.
Post if you found any deals this week!
