– Friday festivities include Old-Fashioned Fourth of July at Meadow Farm, free admission/activities at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, and a walking parade in Ashland during the day, then concerts/fireworks at Dogwood Dell, and fireworks displays in Chesterfield, Goochland, and Colonial Heights. The Flying Squirrels baseball game is also followed by fireworks, which are viewable from many areas near the stadium (such as Hardywood Brewery)
Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with Rocketts Landing! Rocketts Red Glare is a free event and will feature fireworks, live music and family-friendly activities to celebrate the long holiday weekend.
Rocketts Red Glare begins at 5:30 p.m. with a performance by local musician Colin Healy on the volleyball court adjacent to The Boathouse. Virginia party band Kings of Swing will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. and play throughout the fireworks show, which begins around 9 p.m.
Wine and craft beer will be available for purchase with all proceeds from drink sales will benefitting the Neighborhood Resource Center of Greater Fulton. Dessert vendors also will be on-hand. Picnic baskets are welcome (no outside alcohol please), along with chairs and blankets for seating.
