One of the best sales I’ve seen lately, so I’m passing it along for the benefit of other parents to the not-yet-potty-trained. (If that includes you, Baby Cheapskate is a great resource to find the best prices on diapers each week.)
Huggies jumbos are on sale for $8.99 this week at Kroger, plus you save $3 when you buy $15 worth of Huggies. To sweeten the deal, you can combine it with manufacturers coupons (There were $1.50 off 1 pack coupons in 4/19 & 5/17 Smart Source newspaper inserts), AND e-coupons that you load to your Kroger card from Cellfire ($3 off 2) and Shortcuts ($1.50 off 1).
A best case scenario:
2 jumbos at $8.99 each = $17.98
-$3 off $15 Huggies purchase sale
-$3 in manufacturer coupons (2 x $1.50)
-$3 Cellfire coupon
-$1.50 Shortcuts coupon
= $7.48 for 2 packs = $3.74 per pack
(If you have a Upromise account, you can also load a $1.50 eCoupon there to be added to your college savings.)
Apparently Huggies packaging is changing to include fewer diapers, and the sale is meant to clear out the old styles. Stock up!
Diaper prices hiked a couple of months ago, and I’ve heard they may be going up again in September, so this is a golden opportunity to stock up on Huggies and Pampers for your little one. Target is clearing out its special stock of big boxes of diapers, and they’re marked $19.58, 30% off of the $27.99 original price. Size 4 Cruisers contain 100ct and the Baby Dry have 126. You can use manufacturer’s coupons on these boxes. And if you’re buying Pampers, you can also use this Target printable coupon for $5 off when you buy Pampers diapers AND 180 ct or larger wipes. The 180 wipes packages are $5.99, so it makes the wipes almost free ($1 or even less if you have manufacturer’s coupons). Coupon expires tomorrow, 7/31.
So here’s a sample transaction:
$19.58 Box o’ Pampers diapers (Size 4 Baby Dry)
$5.99 Big pack of Pampers wipes (Swipers)
-$1.50 Manufacturer’s coupon for diapers
-$1.00 Manufacturer’s coupon for wipes
-$5.00 Target coupon for buying both together
= $18.07 for 126 diapers and 180 wipes
A stellar deal can be had on Pampers Easy-Ups through tomorrow, if you can find them in stock. The big box I saw was marked 50% off – $9.98 for 54 size 6. You can use a $1.50 Pampers manufacturers coupon, PLUS a Target printable coupon for $2 off Easy Ups. (The Target coupon is available through afullcup.com. Scroll down to coupons expiring 7/31 and click on the Easy-Ups coupon, then type the quantity of that coupon you’d like to print)
*Note: The boxes aren’t in the baby section. They’re probably in the seasonal merchandise section of your store, along with a number of other “limited time” large size household goods on clearance.
And while you’re there, cruise through the toy section. Target is in the midst of doing major toy clearance – Lots of items 75% off, including the summer stock.
If you don’t mind store brands and doing a little complex couponing, you can get 3 jumbo packs of Walgreens Comfort Stretch diapers for basically free this week. Here’s how it works:
-Jumbos are on sale for $5.99 each this week
-In the “EasySaver Booklet” for July (found at the front of the store with the weekly ads), there is a coupon for $5 off 2 jumbo packs. This coupon might also be on a tearpad in front of the diapers.
-Available at the pharmacy (either displayed outside or available by asking at the counter about the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club) are additional red coupon booklets titled “$50 in Great Savings” They contain a coupon for a “$2 off a Jumbo pack.”
-When you buy 3 packs, at checkout a Catalina (register) coupon will print for $5 off your next Walgreens purchase
Put it all together and my purchase went like this:
$17.97 for 3 packs
-$7.50 using the EasySaver coupon (It deducts $2.50 for each pack)
-$6.00 using the pharmacy booklet coupon ($2 off each)
=$4.47 plus $.60 sales tax= $5.07 total “out-of-pocket” (I paid with a gift card from previous deals)
And I received my $5 off next purchase coupon, so…
Net $.07 for 3 packs of diapers
I made this transaction at the Walgreens at Parham and Three Chopt, and had no problems. The pharmacy coupon books were laid out on a table next to the pharmacy, along with little “free gift” packages containing a magnet, pill-shaped squishy stress ball, and a mini first-aid kit!
*You can do this deal as many times as you have coupons, but you can’t pay for another diaper purchase using your $5 Catalina coupon. If you do, you won’t receive another $5 coupon.
More info and discussion can be found at Slickdeals. If you’re not familiar with Walgreens deals, this might be a little advanced to start off with.
*Definitely YMMV because this isn’t an advertised price* but I happened to see these at the Short Pump Kroger this morning. They were marked with a sale sign, regular price is $11.79.
It’s a pretty phenomenal deal if this is a brand you’ll use, especially with diaper prices taking a hike recently. My target price is $6 or less for a jumbo pack of Huggies or Pampers, but that’s with coupons and sometimes complicated deals. Plus, this deal is a mega pack – 60 size 3’s or 52 size 4’s.
