Another affordable movie option this summer: Every Saturday morning beginning May 21st, the Byrd Theatre will be showing classic family movies, with Bob Gulledge at the Mighty Wurlitzer and classic Warner Brothers cartoons.
Admission is (the Byrd’s usual) $1.99 per person. The box office opens at 9:30am each show day; showtime is 10am.

The Byrd Theatre is hosting a special “I Love the Byrd” Valentine’s Day fundraiser tomorrow evening – for a $5 donation you can catch a showing of Sleepless in Seattle at 7:15 p.m. or Bridesmaids at 9:30 p.m.:
The Byrd Theatre Foundation, is thrilled to host the ’I Love the Byrd’ Valentine’s Day event on February 14, 2013. With exclusive balcony seating for this special night—coupled with the nostalgic ambience of the vintage concession stands and friendly Byrd staff—Valentine’s Day at the Byrd this year is set to be a memorable one.
For this special event, the Byrd Theatre will be showing both ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ as well as ‘Bridesmaids’ for theatergoers to enjoy at the regular showtimes of 7:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. Bob Gulledge, Byrd Theatre’s ever popular house organist, will be making a special appearance to grace theatergoers with the wonderful tunes of the well-‐known Mighty Wurlitzer organ.
The Byrd will also be extending balcony seating accommodations on a first come first served basis for patrons who donate over and above the $5 admission donation or bring a receipt from one of the Carytown restaurants or merchants dated February 14, 2013. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Byrd Theatre Foundation’s mission to preserve and restore the Byrd Theatre.
No advance ticket sales – tickets go on sale 1/2 hour before each show.
I have not yet watched the Downton Abbey TV series, but just based on the number of friends who love it, I’m sure I will too one day!

Ring in the New Year with kindred Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey fans, special entertainment, and the first hour of Episode 1 of Downton Abbey, Season 3 on the big screen. The event is free and open to the public with reserved seating for Commonwealth Circle members and event sponsors until 7:00 p.m.
