Summer reading program at bbgb bookstore – earn freebies, win prizes, and save 15%. Pick up your kit this week:
nothing like the carrot of a little cake to make us stick to those chapters this summer. that’s why joining our summer reading program is such a treat.
here’s what you do.
collect your summer reading kit anytime during the week beginning monday, june 11th.
in it, you will find:
1 reading log (for recording your titles)
1 pencil (because writing and reading go hand-in-hand)
1 pack of book notes (to mark your page and draw your book-inspired ideas)
then read your ten books and check in with us twice:
after five books, take a lucky dip in our grab bag.
after ten books, collect a voucher for a free donut from our favorite new sweet spot, dixie donuts.
and if you’re still reading? for each 5 books beyond that, earn a spot in our raffle for free books!
need some title ideas? we’ll have recs from young readers on display, and you can purchase any of your summer reading titles that week at 15% off. (we just love to sweeten the pot!)

Uh, Chop Suey Books turns 10 YEARS OLD this week!!! Similar to any 5th grader, our only birthday party wish was to convert the store into a pizza shop with video games and an animatronic band that looks like WonTon and friends. Sadly, city council unanimously voted this plan down. So we get our second wish: to thank Richmond for the love and support over the last decade. All books are on sale this week, 30% off used and 20% off new. Plus, you can help support Books on Wheels with our 3 for 1 sidewalk sale off our dollar cart!

Got some books that you don’t need taking up room on your shelves? Clean them out and bring them to the Richmond Bargains Book Swap this Saturday March 10 at Tuckahoe Library!
Anyone can bring the books they no longer want and switch them for the castoffs from other people’s bookshelves. Any kind of book – fiction, non-fiction, children’s, cookbooks, etc.!
The swap will run from 9:30 am to 10:15 am. Try to arrive a few minutes early so we can get books sorted into broad categories before we start swapping.
Any books not claimed will be donated to the charity Books On Wheels, which promotes literacy by providing free books to those who need them.
Great chance to acquire some new free reading material while clearing clutter you don’t need! If you’re on Facebook RSVP to the Facebook event. Invite friends and family too!
