have funn go nuts
We took our older son to see the Flying Squirrels play last night (it was a blast – he’s five and is just starting to follow how baseball works. He insisted that I pay attention to all pitches so I could tell him if they were balls or strikes, and whether that was “good for the Flying Squirrels or not”)

But of course I can’t help looking for more bargains at the ballpark. I found these two and will add them to the main Flying Squirrels deal post here.

ollie's cheap seats flying squirrels

The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Cheap Seats – What’s up with the “Ollie’s Cheap Seats” banner way down the third base line? Tickets in section 217 are available each game for $4. (You can purchase online – look for the “$4.00 – Ollie’s Seats” option – but there’s a $1.50 convenience charge for each.)

I’ve marked the location of the cheap seats above with a black arrow.

wash em down wednesday

Wash Em Down Wednesday – On Wednesdays, beers are available for $2 each. This isn’t mentioned on the Squirrels website, possibly because of weird ABC laws regarding advertising alcoholic beverage specials. Anyway, the sign didn’t specify, but I assume this applies to the small size beers (Around 14oz and $5.75 each normally, I think but don’t quote me)

whole foods beer richmond

Whole Foods will be offering half-price growler fills of draft beer this Sunday, November 11, from 8am to 10pm.

“Friend” Whole Foods Short Pump Beer Page on Facebook to see photos of some of the beers currently available on draft.

If, like me, you are not too familiar with explosively popular craft beer scene, a beer growler is a (typically) 64oz/half-gallon glass or ceramic jug used to transport draft beer.

Last Tuesday, my husband and I enjoyed a night on our own – the first in over a year since our youngest was born. We stopped by Capital Ale House‘s downtown location, which was unusually slammed with throngs of fireworks-goers.

If you’re a frequenter of Capital Ale, you know their plethora of interesting beers don’t come cheap. That’s why it was a pleasant surprise to discover that this summer, Capital Ale House is offering 1/2 off draft beers, wine by the glass, and liquor every day from 4-7pm. It’s called “Daily 180” because it lasts 180 minutes.

The promotion runs through Labor Day at all Capital Ale House locations.

For a frugal dinner out, go on Monday evening (tonight!) for Burger Night, when half-pound certified angus beef hamburgers, cheeseburgers or black bean burgers are only $2 with any beverage purchase! Additional toppings .50 to $1.00 extra, side of fries $1.99

This week, Kroger has Miller Lite 12 packs (cans or bottles), as well as Miller Genuine Draft, on sale for “2 for $12.99.” You don’t actually have to buy 2, so the sale price is $6.50 a pack. Just 54 cents a can.

I don’t see good deals on beer very often, so I’m mentioning it for the benefit of those like my husband who make this their “everday” beer of choice. Kroger’s normal price is around $8.49 for cans and $8.99 for bottles.
