Welcome to Richmond Bargains, bringing down the cost of living in RVA since 2008! This website features great deals and freebies available at stores/restaurants in the Richmond Metro area, reviews and tips about local bargain resources, and free (or very cheap) events around town.

I'm Alison, a stay-at-home mom to a preschooler and new baby on the way. I've lived in the West End almost my entire life. After finishing a degree in Economics at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, I returned to my hometown. My husband hails from Oklahoma; we met at our church and have been blessed with eight years of marriage.

I started writing Richmond Bargains in June 2008 because I a) love sharing deals and b) observed a lack of resources connecting residents with LOCAL money-saving information. If you don't consider yourself a "frugal" person, or you think saving money is just too much work, I'd like to show you some simple ways to do the things you enjoy (eat, shop, play, LIVE) while spending less!

Some my favorite activities are taking photos and making photobooks, shopping at book sales, drinking wine, and exploring nature, so expect to see lots of info about saving money on those topics.

I always appreciate help from wonderful area readers with the scoop on store opening sales, store closing sales, store special sales, store clearance sales, restaurant specials ... pretty much any kind of sale or deal in the metro area.
