UPDATE – This code is being finicky. If it doesn’t work from the home screen, try going to the tickets page before entering it in the promo code box

This info is for the 2012 season.

There’s a great Burger King promo code available currently that will save you $20 on Busch Gardens Williamsburg or Water Country USA single-day tickets, through September 3.

I included it in the Busch Gardens and Water Country savings posts, and it has been causing a little confusion how to redeem it, so I’ve made a quick visual guide:

1. Go to Busch Gardens websitehttp://seaworldparks.com/en/buschgardens-williamsburg (regardless of whether you want Busch Garden or Water Country, start here)

2. Find the “Promo Code” link at the top (I have circled it in red)

3. Click the link, and enter code BGWBK in the box that appears

4. Click the Select button for the park you want to visit. Enter how many adult and child tickets you need.

5. Then click the brown “Check Out” box and complete the checkout process.

After discount, adult Busch Gardens tickets are $46.99 and Water Country are $27.99.

I’m just getting around to working on my January-June 2012 photo book, so this was a great freebie find:

Get a FREE 8×8 hardcover Shutterfly photo book ($29.99 value) via andersoncooper.comclick here, then click on the free book offer.

I think the shipping cost is usually $8.15 with tax for a book. And the free book must be redeemed by August 30, so you know where to find me that evening, frantically editing pages on Shutterfly…

The sale I was waiting for has arrived – 2012 Entertainment Books are on sale “2 for $10”, plus $1 per book shipping, this week.

That’s about as low as they go. The 2013 books will be released in about a month, but the 2012 coupons are valid until November 1, so you’ll have a little over three months to use them. If you’re traveling anywhere on vacation soon, it might be worth picking up a book for your destination.

You can also shop through a cash back website like Mr. Rebates, which is currently offering 20% back on your Entertainment.com purchase. Just make sure that the “2 books for $10” offer is showing up when you click through from Mr. Rebates site, not the one book for $8.99.

Recently, we saved an extra $15 using an Entertainment Book coupon at Dick’s Sporting Goods, stocking up on clearance athletic apparel during their “extra 50% off clearance” sale. Another favorite of mine is the “buy one, get one free” admission to the Children’s Museum of Richmond.

rtd save your summer class

On Tuesday, July 24th, from 6:30-8:30pm, I’ll be leading a free coupon workshop titled “Save Your Summer” at the Richmond Times Dispatch production plant in Hanover (8460 Times Dispatch Boulevard, Mechanicsville).

As the name suggests, the class will cover a smorgasbord of money-saving topics related to summer, including free summer activities for kids, cheap staycations and daytrips, dining out discounts, and grocery coupons. I won’t cover back-to-school topics in depth because there is another class coming on that at the end of August, but I will offer a few ideas for school supply discounts and consignment sale shopping to get you started.

There will also be a coupon swap at the end, so bring coupons you don’t need and even recently expired coupons that can be sent to military families.

Please come! You’ll need to register online here.

rtd
(Coupon in May 13 RTD)

Being a holiday weekend, Sunday’s Times-Dispatch won’t contain any manufacturer coupons. The front cover wrap will have coupons for a number of local businesses:

    India K’ Raja
    Books, Beads & More
    Pecan Jacks
    Habitat for Humanity ReStore
    Good Foods Grocery
    International Fit Dance
    Champagne Stables
    Possessions Gifts, Jewelry & Decor
    ComedySportz Improv Theatre
    Power Wash This
    Kung Fu Academy

I don’t know the coupon details for this week, but when the paper ran a similar cover a few weeks ago, the India K’Raja coupon was “buy one entree, get one free,” and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore was for 50% off your entire purchase!

washington post

Since I have grocery coupons on the brain from teaching a number of couponing classes in the past week, I thought I would pass along three suggestions for paying less for Sunday papers with the coupon inserts (Sunday Times-Dispatch sticker price = $2):

Go to Walgreens – Through the end of May (May 27), Walgreens should have Sunday editions of the Richmond Times-Dispatch for only $1.25. Plus, The Times-Dispatch is donating 5¢ to the Galactosemia Foundation for each Sunday newspaper sold there. This special has been available several times in the past as well.

Get a different paper – If you live on the eastern side of Richmond, you might be close to the coverage areas of smaller, cheaper newspapers that carry the weekly inserts. More Bang for Your Buck on NBC12 recently featured some nearby alternatives, such as the Virginia Gazette (Williamsburg) and the Tidewater Review (West Point, King William, King & Queen and New Kent).

Take advantage of new subscriber specials – Not a new Times-Dispatch subscriber? How about The Washington Post? In my zip code I can sign up for 52 weeks of Sunday Washington Post delivery for $.99 a week. The coupons will vary slightly.

Obviously, if you have sources like friends and family to give you their extra inserts for free, that’s even better!

Alright, Coupon Braintrust, what did I miss?
