New here?
Welcome! I’m your host, Alison – stay-at-home mom to a toddler, almost-native Richmonder, intrepid bargain hunter and blogger extraordinaire. I hope you’ll stick around to learn how Richmond Bargains can reduce your cost of living in the River City.
What Richmond Bargains Is:
A resource started in June 2008 to help Richmonders get the most for their money. It features great deals and freebies available at stores/restaurants in the Richmond Metro area, reviews and tips about local bargain resources, and free (or very cheap) events around town.
What Richmond Bargains Is Not:
Not your generic bargain site. The focus is local. I cover very few web deals, and I don’t do in-depth coupon match-ups. (There are innumerable fabulous general bargain blogs to which I’d be happy to refer you!)
How to get the most out of this site:
Subscribe - The easiest way to keep up with all the terrific Richmond deals is to subscribe to updates. You can choose between receiving email updates, RSS feed, “Liking” on Facebook, or following on Twitter.
Bargain Basics - Check out all the posts in this category dedicated to ongoing secrets of saving money around RVA
RVA Deals - Currently I write a weekly column on area grocery deals for the Richmond news site RVANews.com. My column, RVA Deals, is published every Wednesday, so surf on over if you’re interested in saving on groceries (or stop by any day of the week; RVA News has a wealth of great Richmond info in addition to fun feature stories)
Favorite Links - Check the sidebar for links to some other sites that might save you moolah
Share - I always appreciate help from wonderful area readers with the scoop on store opening sales, store closing sales, store special sales, store clearance sales, restaurant specials … pretty much any kind of sale or deal in the metro area. I also try to spotlight free (or <$5) events around town. If you've got the bargain skinny, please email me at richmondbargains at gmail dot com. Your fellow Richmonders will thank you!
Visiting Richmond? There is another category dedicated to items of interest for those traveling to our fair city. If you need any additional bargain tips or recommendations, feel free to contact me and I’ll do my best to help!

Allison,
are you in the near west end? If so i’d be happy to do a feature on your website on the near west end news blog.
also, don’t forget. free cones at baskin robbins today (if you don’t mind a line)
also, you might want to post your email so folks can send you tips, or set up a dummy one like info@ that forwards to you.
Hi Jonah! I just started reading and enjoying the NWEN blog. Thanks for the offer and the email address reminder. I’m certain I had it posted on the main page but it must have gotten lost in the last Wordpress upgrade.

Hello we are all looking forward to seeing Henry on Saturday.
Hi Alison,
Thank you for including The Clothesline on your blog again! If you want to include cards in our goody bags again, let me know.
Thanks,
Lisa Martin
Hi Alison,
The woman that does the Clothesline childrens consignment sale is doing a women’s consignment sale from Oct. 28-31. I’ve been involved in her children’s sales, and it is quite impressive! I’m expecting the women’s sale to be just as good…you might want to share the info!
I’d like to share with you our Holiday Essentials Guide printed each week with sales and offers from our retailers. We also have Freebie Fridays beginning this Friday where shoppers get stuff absolutely free! The guide and freebie details are posted on our Web site. Please call me if you have questions at 804.794.4662.
Thanks for featuring the Virginia Drug Card. I’m the Marketing Director at the Greater Richmond Chamber and have been passionately promoting the value of this free card to the region for the past year, so I’m thrilled to see you share the information with your readers as well. The card is available for 2010 as well so please feel free to continue featuring the ease for anyone in need to get one (just print out a card on virginiadrugcard.com). Many thanks, Lori Amirshahi
How did I not know about your site until now? I’m excited to find you here & found you through google when searching for details on the Chick-fil-a spicy chicken 95 degrees deal. I am now an email subscriber so I won’t miss any good stuff!
Hi Jen, thank you! And welcome! Honestly, I probably spend too much time writing/researching, and not enough publicizing
