Richmond Bargains

I didn’t see this coming, but I’m sure it’s part of a campaign to regain ground against price competition.

Ukrops has just started offering a “double coupon” promotion – Every Wednesday, receive twice the coupon value on manufacturers coupons up to $.50. So $.50 is worth $1 off your bill, etc.

I did a test run just to make sure:

Used a coupon for $.50 off French’s mustard, which doubled as promised. (Shows up as $.50 store coupon)

Matching Kroger’s coupon doubling one day a week won’t be enough to lure me away from Kroger’s better bargains. Double to $.75 or triple to $.35, and I’ll give it some serious consideration.

But combined with other One Day Deals that Ukrop’s has begun promoting, it’s an interesting step towards appealing to Richmond grocery bargain shoppers, and a nice bonus for coupon clippers who are already Ukrop’s devotees.
