What better way to celebrate our freedom than with lots of free Fourth of July events this weekend? Don’t miss free entry to Lewis Ginter on Saturday – This is your chance to see the Butterflies Live exhibit!

FRIDAY

“Celebrate Freedom” Concert – at Genworth Financial headquarters by the Heritage of America Band. Popular & patriotic music, children’s activities, and fireworks.

SATURDAY

Lewis ginter 4th of july

All American Celebration/Butterflies Are Free
– As part of the Lewis Ginter’s 25th anniversary, admission to the Garden on July 4 is free! Guests are invited to wear red, white and blue and bring wagons and strollers to decorate for a “parade” from the Visitors Center to the Children’s Garden – where they can enjoy music, WaterPlay and fun activities. Butterflies LIVE! continues; watch tropical butterflies in the North Wing of the Conservatory.
-Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave,.9am-5pm, Children’s activities 1-4pm

Hot Diggety Dog Fourth of July in Brandermill
– Enjoy a parade from Swift Creek Middle School to Sunday Park at 10am. After the parade makes its way to Sunday Park, the festivities begin at 1pm with live music, food, face painting, balloon sculptures, a watermelon eating competition and a dog show. Then watch the fireworks in Sunday Park at 9:15pm
-Swift Creek Middle School (3700 Old Hundred Road, Midlothian) & Gardens at Sunday Park (4602 Millridge Pky, Midlothian)

Old-Fashioned Fourth of July – Activities will include musical entertainment, arts and crafts, face painting, a petting zoo for children, contests and games, pony rides, and two spectacular sky diving shows with Uncle Sam! Other highlights include a watermelon feast, Uncle Sam on stilts, Jonathan Austin the juggler, ice sculpture demonstration, a patriotic performance featuring a historic color guard, drum and fife music, and a period musket salute by Living History Associates, Ltd. Enjoy live entertainment and tours of Meadow Farm Museum and the Orientation Center exhibits will be available.
-Meadow Farm/Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Rd, 1-5pm.

Ashland Fourth of July Parade
– Starts at Henry Clay Rd and Center St and marches to Hanover Arts & Activities Center for contests, music, crafts, games and more.
-500 S Center St. Begins at 11am

Fourth at the Fort – Head to Fort Lee to enjoy food, music, fireworks, the arts and craft festival and famous KidZone complete with a climbing wall, airplane slide and other inflatables. Throughout the day enjoy live entertainment by “The Wallers” and the Fort Lee Army Band. Festivities will be held from 2 to 10:30 p.m. (Kidzone free until 4pm, then $1 tickets) Fireworks at 9:35pm.
-Williams Stadium, Lee Ave, Fort Lee (bring driver’s license, current vehicle registration and proof of insurance)

Comcast’s Fourth of July Extravaganza – Children’s activities, entertainment, music by KoS, & fireworks at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds.
-10300 Courthouse Rd, gates open at 5pm.

Dogwood Dell Fourth of July
– Bak N Da Day– R & B Harmonies 5pm; Carillon Bell Concert 6:30pm; Richmond Concert Band Patriotic and popular music 7pm; Fireworks to follow. Satellite/shuttle parking available in UofR stadium lot.
-Dogwood Dell Main Stage

Colonial Heights Fireworks – Starting at 9:15pm.
-Off Charles Dimmock Pkwy, Southgate Square/Walmart/Kmart area
