The Mother of All “Free Stuff to Do in Richmond” Lists

March 25th, 2009 · No Comments · Bargain Basics, Free & Cheap Events, Visitors

The next time my husband complains he’d bored, I’ll point him to theHistoric Richmond Region: Free of Charge” list, just published by the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Economic news got you down? Don’t let Wall Street keep you grounded. Plan an escape to the Historic Richmond Region where four centuries of history and modern-day culture come together with unprecedented affordability. Getting to the Region is inexpensive, staying in the Region is inexpensive and best of all, once you’re here, dozens of activities and attractions in the Richmond Region are FREE.

I counted 44 suggestions of free things to do around town. Many are museums or history-related, as well as a number of parks and natural areas.

We’ve done a lot of the things listed, but still have plenty to try. For instance, I was blissfully unaware of the existence of the Museum of Virginia Golf History at Independence Golf Club, and that there was a Virginia Telephone Museum on Grace Street.

I also learned that Virginia Historical Society will be offering free admission this summer, June to August.

Thank you to Jonah of NWEN for sending this my way.
