Heads up: this weekend, September 24-25, is Time Travelers Passport Weekend in Richmond:
Tourists and locals alike are invited to discover the area’s treasures, spanning 400 years of fascinating history. Fourteen participating sites – Agecroft Hall, Chesterfield County Museum & Historic Jail, Chimborazo Medical Museum, Dabbs House Museum, The John Marshall House, Maggie Walker National Historic Site, Magnolia Grange House Museum, Maymont, Meadow Farm Museum, White House of the Confederacy (ACWM), Edgar Allan Poe Museum, The Valentine & 1812 Wickham House, The Valentine First Freedom Center and Wilton House Museum – will offer complimentary admission to visitors who show a Time Travelers Passport available via download here.
You can show the passport on your phone or print a hardcopy.
If you’d like to venture out of town this weekend, Saturday, September 24 is Smithsonian’s “Museum Day Live”, when participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket. The ticket provides free admission for two people; you can find a list of participating Virginia museums here.
And if you’re in the mood to get outside instead, it just so happens that this Saturday is also National Public Lands Day, which means free admission to any national park!
