2014-15 Gellman Room Concert Schedule at Richmond Public Library

Gellman Room concerts have started again at the Richmond Public Library Main Library (101 E Franklin St):

    The 2014-15 season features a variety of concerts performed by musicians and composers from Richmond and across the country on Saturday afternoons at 2 pm in the Gellman Room of the Main Library.

    October 4– Small Trunk Opera presents “Cox and Box”—an 1866 comic operetta with music by Sir Arthur Sullivan
    October 25– Mixed Musix: NeoVienna—classical sounds of old Vienna, but with a contemporary spin presented by the Chamber Music society of Central Virginia
    November 1– Mauro Correa and Friends present Music of Brazil for 7-String Guitar and Winds
    November 8– Sigma Alpha Iota, an international fraternity for women in music, presents solo and chamber music
    December 13– Richmond Boys Choir performs their annual concert—a holiday tradition at the Richmond Public Library
    January 10– Music and Conversation: 3=4 (or more) An informal concert presented by the Chamber Music society of Central Virginia
    January 17– Richmond Music Teachers Association—a concert by members of RMTA
    February 14– Jefferson Baroque presents “In and Out of Love in the Renaissance and Baroque”
    February 21– Music and Conversation: Bach as Teacher A lecture/performance by harpsichordist Carsten Schmidt, in partnership with the Chamber Music society of Central Virginia
    March 28– Capitol Opera Richmond performs Die Fledermaus
    April 11– Fran Coleman with Hope Erb performs “From Debussey to Duke”—the effect of French Art Song on American Jazz
    April 25– Greater Richmond Children’s Treble Choir, directors Hope Armstrong Erb and Pete Curry—”Lyrics, Laughter & Learning”—Come be loud in the library and learn a lot too with GRCC’s entry-level Treble Choir presenting music, poetry, games and sing-alongs from around the world.
    May 16– Mixed Musix: Ice Cubes—exciting chamber music being written today from Scandinavian, Baltic and Russian composers perfomed by the Chamber Music society of Central Virginia

    All concerts are free and the public is invited.
