Roses Plans Two Richmond Stores

The Richmond-Times Dispatch reports that discount department store Roses plans to open two locations in Richmond this year. One will be in the eastern Henrico building that currently houses The Showplace, and the chain is negotiating for the former Winn-Dixie supermarket on Beulah Road in Chesterfield as well.

There are currently Roses stores in Ashland and Hopewell.

Roses, which says its chief competition is Walmart and Kmart, carries an assortment of toys, health and beauty aids, housewares, furniture, sporting goods, snacks, clothing, accessories and jewelry.

Sawyer said the store at The Showplace should open in August or September, and the Beulah Road store could open about a month later if there are no unanticipated hang-ups in negotiations for that space.
