Always on the lookout for new second-hand shopping options? Here’s a roundup of some thrift and consignment stores that set up shop in the West End in 2012:
Thrifty Sisters – Benefits Little Sisters of the Poor (8911 Patterson Avenue)
- Alyson (Richmond Real Estate Mom) reviewed it on her blog here

3rd Floor Store – Anne Ellett, owner of the 3rd Floor Store, LLC is a Richmond resident with a big family and a house with a third floor. After years of decorating personal homes and helping friends and family decorate theirs, her third floor was packed with treasures waiting to be used again – things too good for yard sales! Her family and friends shared the lofty space, holding onto things they would never be able to buy again. When people came to visit Anne’s house, they often asked to ‘shop the third floor.’ As the global economy changed the face of retail, Anne found it harder to find well-made furnishings at affordable prices to redecorate her own home. She wanted ‘real wood’ and things made with pride and craftsmanship. She knew other people did too. The answer? Open a real 3rd Floor Store where customers could find good things from other people’s ‘places in the heart.’(1123 Gaskins Road)

Crystal’s Closet – Crystal’s Closet is a “thrift store” at its best. We only stock name brand clothes and items in new condition at low prices. We have a yard sale on the lawn on Saturday mornings at 7am (8602 Patterson Ave)

Tunic Boutique – Opened in October in Short Pump (3416 Pump Rd). Tunic Boutique sells women’s designer clothing on consignment. We take clothes, shoes, and accessories by season everyday; no appointment is necessary. Consignors get 45% of the final sale price or 50% if the item sells for over $100. You’ll find brands like BCBG, Citizens, Trina Turk, Mark Jacobs, Michael Kors, Anthropologie, Coach, Frye, Joe’s, Sevens, Theory, and True Religion. We have new items everyday! We are located in the Short Pump Crossing shopping center.

Jill’s Garage Sale Store – We are a unique second hand store. Here you will find a little bit of everything under one roof. Some items are new and some are gently loved. From Collectibles, Toys, Clothing, Purses, Accessories, Holiday, to Household Items, TV’s, Electronics, Appliances, Furniture, Antiques, Knick-Knacks, Glassware, and Much More! (9041 W Broad St)

Love of Jesus Thriftique – Benefits The ROC ministries (3091 Lauderdale Dr) Here was my review from last March.
I’d like to do another post featuring recent stores in other parts of RVA. Help me out – What new resale businesses are on your radar??

I was wondering if there are any good places to sell a wedding dress on consignment? I have my old dress and wanted to see if I could sell it somewhere without having to deal with the confusion of online.
How about the new places in Lakeside? ReFinery moved from Bellevue and there’s a new plus size store across from Consignment Connection on Lakeside ave. Also, Mentor is relatively new in the wal mart sc in short pump
