Donate to the Food Bank this Saturday

boy scouts scouting for food

The Central Virginia Food Bank needs donations!

This Saturday, November 3rd, the Boy Scouts will be Scouting for Food – Fill your paper bag (dropped off by the scouts last week) with canned/non-perishable items and leave it on your doorstep for pick up.

(Another option for helping: Chick-fil-A at Willow Lawn will be giving away a free chicken biscuit with the donation of four canned goods on Saturday morning Nov 3, 7:30-11am!)

Want to help? Here are a few items at good prices during Kroger’s 10-item Mega Event this week and next – save $5 for every 10 participating items you buy. After that additional $.50 per item savings, the prices are:

Campbell’s Condensed Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken soups $.69/can (Use “$.40 off 3″ coupon from Coupons.com or $.40 off 4 from the 10/7 SmartSource insert to get them for as low as $.42 per can)

Hormel canned chili $.87/can. I found a “$1 off 2” coupon in an aisle dispenser next to the cans, making them just $.37/can! (look for a $1 off 2 coupon in the 9/9 SmartSource insert too)

    Green Giant canned vegetables $.49/can

    Annie’s Macaroni & Cheese $.69/box

Reach toothbrushes $1.49 each. Print “$2 off 2” coupon from Coupons.com to make them $.49 each, plus you’ll get a $2 off your next purchase Catalina coupon printed at the register (a $1 moneymaker!) (I realize you can’t eat toothbrushes, but you can use or donate them, and maybe use the overage savings for a few more cans of chili!)

(A few more Kroger deals in this week’s RVA Deals post)

Have you spotted any bargains that would be perfect for donations??
