Richmond Outdoor Ice Skating Rink Opens Tomorrow

UPDATE: Postponed “Due to the unseasonably warm weather and forecasts of heavy rain, the opening ceremony for RVA On Ice that was originally scheduled for this Wednesday has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 1 at 5:30 pm. The Honorable Dwight C. Jones of Richmond will officially open the 2011–12 season of RVA On Ice, Richmond’s only outdoor ice rink in the heart of downtown. Expected to last approximately 30 minutes, the Mayor will invite the public to skate as his guests until the rink closes at 10:00 pm.”

The RVA On Ice Season Opening Ceremony is this Wednesday, November 23, beginning at 6pm:

Come out for the festivities and enjoy free ice skating (skate rental fee [$5 for adults] not included) for the rest of the night! Live music by the Richmond Boys Choir and appearances by Lady Raiders Cheer and Dance Team along with Raider mascot Risky. Fun for the whole family!

RVA on Ice is a 8,400 square foot outdoor ice skating rink adjacent to Richmond CenterStage between 6th and 7th Streets on East Broad Street. It will be open through January 2 with the following schedule:

Wednesdays through Fridays, 4 to 10 p.m.
Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Special holiday hours: Dec. 24, noon to 8 p.m.
To be determined, Christmas Day
Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, noon to 10 p.m.

Fees:

Skate rentals:
$5 general and $3 for children 10 and younger

Admission:
$5 general and $4 for seniors 60 and older and for military personnel
Free for children age 10 and younger who are accompanied by a paid guardian
