Wednesday was the *perfect* day to visit the State Fair of Virgnia. We saved money on admission by using our Groupons and took advantage of the $10 ride wristbands after 5pm… but what to do about steep fair food prices?
Here are a few deals I found wandering around this year –
Food and drink options $1 or under:
20oz. iced tea for $.75 – at Tiki Tea. Several locations throughout the fair, including the entrance to Midway and near Old MacDonald’s Farm. Find them on Facebook
1/2 pint carton of chocolate milk $1 – From the Virginia Tech Dairy Club, in the Meadow Pavilion near the entrance to the Agriculture Area. They also sell 16oz milkshakes for $4
Honeysticks $.25 each – In the Horticulture Pavilion, behind the Meadow Pavilion
Hot dogs $1 – Vendor on the Midway near the big Ferris Wheel
We found $1 bottled water at a stall along the North Festival Loop.
If you need something more substantial, check out the Food & Merchandise Coupons, available for printing online, or you can find them in the fair info booklets distributed at the entrance.
My favorite meal deal was offered by the VT Block & Bridle BBQ booth, located in the Livestock Loop behind the tractors, coupon #28. They have pork meals (I believe the meal included a sandwich, side and drink) for $8, and with coupon you can get a second meal half-off = $12 for two meals
How do you save on refreshments at the Fair? Any suggestions of great food values?
