Great news for travelers wanting to visit Richmond but can’t afford a downtown hotel – From

A special-use permit has been approved for Richmond’s first hostel to open its doors as as early as next spring. The plan, according to the Richmond Hostel Committee, is to transform the building at 7 N. Second Street “… into a 40-50 bed hostel, ;with environmentally sustainable features and operations, including a green roof and water collection system.'”

A hostel offers dormitory-like accommodations, shared rooms and bathrooms, for inexpensive prices. Private bedrooms are typically available at extra cost. A night at the Richmond hostel will cost around $30.

I’ve never stayed in a hostel, but always heard my parents sing their praises from their experiences staying at them while backpacking around Europe.
