This post is from the October 2010 J. Crew Warehouse Sale in Richmond Virginia. I DON’T HAVE A CURRENT COUPON, I’m sorry!

What to expect:
Crowds! The company running the sale had crowd control under control, but when I visited Saturday morning, there was a line waiting to enter because the facility was at capacity. There was even a bit of a wait to find a parking space in the parking lot.
When you enter, you are issued a huge plastic bag for carrying your purchases and a price list. The large space is filled with a pervasive rustling as everyone moves about dragging their bags filled with loot. Everything except for wedding dresses has a flat price – no price tags, so refer to the price list.

Be prepared to rummage! The inventory is all in boxes on tables and on the floor. It is roughly divided into women’s, men’s, children’s, shoes, and accessories; but gets jumbled up. Several new boxes of stuff were brought out while I was browsing.
There are no mirrors, no dressing rooms, and no returns! Know your size, including waist measurement for pants, and check your purchases carefully for defects. Irregular garments are included, some with small holes or stains.
Selection: Abundant women’s items, especially pants and coats. I saw several pieces from the Madewell line which is also owned by JCrew. While a few larges were mixed in, most of the women’s sizes I saw were in the 2-8 range. Men had a good-sized section as well. The children’s pickings (Crewcut line) were slim.
Bargains: It’s not yard sale pricing, but a great savings on J.Crew regular prices. I didn’t find any shirts I wanted for $10 (I didn’t dig as long or determinedly as I might have). I did pick up a pair of flip-flops ($2), a floppy sunhat ($8), and my big score was three swimsuits for $3 apiece! A basic brown, a basic black, and a print. I am soooo excited 
I think swimsuits are the real steal there, but I didn’t have much competition for them (possibly because of the lack of dressing rooms)

Any body has a 30% off coupon for this sale. I was there today and have some people with a 30% coupon
good luck on obtaining this coupon – I have asked around, emailed, and point blank asked a few people there where they obtained it and it was like some vague answer that it was their friend and they did not know – etc. Once you check out – there is a table where you can sign up for future sales, coupons, etc.
Oh and don’t believe the 1st day they open at 10am — they were in full swing by 8am.
Tiffany – Yeah it was pretty crazy! But no worse than your average consignment sale
Tracy – Good plan, like I said, they brought out new stuff while I was there so who knows how much inventory they have

Thanks again for sending me the coupon! I went first thing this morning and got a wool Harbor Pea Coat and four pairs of shoes for about $90 total, with the discount. It was empty when I got there but by the time I left at 11:00 it was really filling up. They said that they still had more stuff in the back, but no more coats. It was pretty disorganized and there were a lot of single shoes, or shoes that were mated with the wrong size of foot, but there is still some good stuff left! The crowd was very polite when I was there (very unlike the sale I went to at the actual warehouse in Lynchburg, where people grabbed things out of my hands).
Went today and WOW! I have to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK to the wonderful, kind stranger who heard my daughter talking about a wedding dress, and offered us the elusive 30% coupon. Love the kindness of strangers!

Is it to late to get a 30% coupon
FYI, I was there this morning and the whole store is 30% off, so coupons are no longer needed to get the discount (and no, they will not stack the 30% coupon on top of the 30% in store discount).
This sale has been great! I wish I had gone earlier in the week when the selection was better, but I have gone a few times since Wednesday and have gotten a wool peacoat, a wool dress, a wool skirt, a pair of boots, 2 pairs of driving mocs, two pairs of ballet flats, and 7 pairs of sandals (yikes!), all for a little less than the original cost of the peacoat.
