Night Sky & Sky Watch – Friday 7:30pm; Montpelier Center for Arts & Education
The Richmond Astronomical Society (RAS) is offering a presentation on the night sky. After the presentation, there will be a SkyWatch on the lawn. SkyWatch includes a viewing of the night sky through high-powered telescopes with an experienced skywatcher as your guide. This is an opportunity for Western Hanover residents to experience astronomy in their own backyard as RAS is the organization that hosts this popular event at the Science Museum of Virginia. Don’t forget your lawn chair!

Roll back the clocks as you stroll the neighborhood with family and friends. Shop, eat, explore and join us for a free movie night on the big screen. Pre-movie activities include shopping from local merchants, darn good food and beverages, and lots of fun. As the sun goes down, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for an old-fashioned family movie night. Shopping and activities start at 6. Filipino Festival – Saturday 10am to 8pm; Our Lady of Lourdes church, 8200 Woodman Rd
Experience the Philippines! A celebration of the richness of the Filipino culture. Features authentic Filipino cuisine, Filipino dances like tinikling (bamboo dance) and Pandanggo sa Ilaw (Dance of Lights), Sayaw sa Bangko (Bench dance), music and games. Pirate’s Paradise – Saturday 10am to 1pm; Deep Run Park
For all ages. SHIVER ME TIMBERS! It’s a pirate’s life for me! Enjoy a day of everything pirate at Deep Run Park. Be prepared to walk the plank, venture on a hunt to search for pirate’s treasure, get temporary airbrush tattoos, have your face painted, make pirate crafts, or maybe even meet Blackbeard himself! Bring the kids in their best pirate attire for costume contests and games. Get ready for life on the high seas with authentic pirate tunes and sea chanteys performed by The Press Gang. Shockoe Chef Showdown – Saturday 11am-4pm; 17th Street Farmers Market
If you love watching cooking competition shows, you won’t want to miss Shockoe Chef Showdown – Pits chefs from Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom against each other in three dish heats: meat-based, vegetarian-based, and dessert. Samples will be available for purchase.
Latin Jazz Festival – Saturday 11am-7pm; Dogwood Dell
The last event of this summer’s Dogwood Dell Festival of the Arts! Featuring a variety of live Latin entertainment and presentations. This festival will leave you wanting more! Join us for a “live” Conga Jam Session featuring some of the areas finest Latin percussionists. Kickers Family Fest – ($10 per family before 6pm) Saturday 4pm to 9pm; River City Stadium
The festival will feature live music by local musicians, food, arts and crafts, inflatables, video games, face-painting, Petting Zoo and train rides and the largest inflatable obstacle course in Central Virginia, presented by Bounce 2 the Moon! In addition, join the U-TURN Soccer Zone on the field and participate in small-sided soccer games, juggle-a-thons and soccer drills throughout the day. The Richmond Kickers pro soccer game highlights the event as the Kickers host the Real Maryland Monarchs at 7:00 pm. (Full admission price applies if arriving after 6pm)

Walkerton Summer Concert Series – Sunday 6pm; Walkerton Tavern
