Enjoying outdoor concerts is one of my favorite summer activities. Not only are they a toddler-friendly and (relatively) relaxing way to spend a summer evening, but they are very often free!

One Sunday evening a month, May through October. Summer concerts run 6-8pm, and early fall ones are 5-7pm
Jammin’ on the James (PDF) – Wilton House Museum, 215 S Wilton Rd
Join us for the 3rd Annual “Jammin’ on the James,” Wilton House Museum’s free summer concert series. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on our grass terrace overlooking the James River. Enjoy walk-through tours of Wilton, Richmond’s only 18th century public plantation home. Kids will be entertained by colorful face-painting and many fun games while parents revel in the sounds of the live melodies

Short Pump Summer Concert Series – The Summer Concert Series returns beginning June 3rd and continuing every Thursday evening (weather permitting) through August 26th. Families are invited to enjoy FREE live music performed by local bands, great food, PRIZES and of course, fabulous shopping!

Join us for our family-friendly summer concert series on the lawn of The Montpelier Center for Arts & Education! Bring the whole family, feel free to set up your own picnic, and enjoy a night of Music Under the Stars! Admission is FREE, and all concerts are Rain or Shine. Friday Live at Five at Fort Lee – Fort Lee’s summer concert series enchants the summer with its wide variety of music every Friday night, June 4 – September 17 (except July 2), on the lawn of the Hideaway.
The Hideaway is located next to Outdoor Recreation on 5th Street, just off C Ave. All concerts will play rain or shine. Event times for all shows will begin with a DJ spinning from 5- 6pm, bands will play from 6-9pm. Admission is free; food and beverages will be available for purchase.
