List of Free Outdoor Summer Concerts in Richmond

Enjoying outdoor concerts is one of my favorite summer activities. Not only are they a toddler-friendly and (relatively) relaxing way to spend a summer evening, but they are very often free!

Dogwood Dell Festival of the Arts – A looong list of outdoor concerts most weekends through the middle of August, as well as plays, children’s events and more.

Music in the Park – Forest Hill Park, Forest Hill Avenue and 41st Street

One Sunday evening a month, May through October. Summer concerts run 6-8pm, and early fall ones are 5-7pm

Jammin’ on the James (PDF) – Wilton House Museum, 215 S Wilton Rd
Join us for the 3rd Annual “Jammin’ on the James,” Wilton House Museum’s free summer concert series. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on our grass terrace overlooking the James River. Enjoy walk-through tours of Wilton, Richmond’s only 18th century public plantation home. Kids will be entertained by colorful face-painting and many fun games while parents revel in the sounds of the live melodies

Short Pump Summer Concert Series – The Summer Concert Series returns beginning June 3rd and continuing every Thursday evening (weather permitting) through August 26th. Families are invited to enjoy FREE live music performed by local bands, great food, PRIZES and of course, fabulous shopping!

Stony Point Fashion Park Summer Sounds – 9200 Stony Point Parkway

Jazz performances most Sundays in June, July and August, either from 1-3pm or 4-6pm. See schedule for details

Rock the Block (Henrico) – Come out and join your community for free, mid-week, family entertainment in your neighborhood park. Enjoy live music, contests and games, face painting, and more! Concessions will be available for purchase. Information: Rachel Leyco, 501-5134.

Walkerton Summer Concert Series (Henrico) – Light-hearted, fun, and free! Enjoy concerts on the lawn by some of the finest local concert bands, entertaining with a great variety of music from show tunes to classical adaptations. Music Under the Stars Summer Concert Series Montpelier Center for the Arts –
Join us for our family-friendly summer concert series on the lawn of The Montpelier Center for Arts & Education! Bring the whole family, feel free to set up your own picnic, and enjoy a night of Music Under the Stars! Admission is FREE, and all concerts are Rain or Shine. Food and beverages (beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks) will be available for purchase. No outside alcohol will be allowed on the grounds! Outside sandbox will be set up for children’s activity.

Friday Live at Five at Fort Lee – Fort Lee’s summer concert series enchants the summer with its wide variety of music every Friday night, June 4 – September 17 (except July 2), on the lawn of the Hideaway.

The Hideaway is located next to Outdoor Recreation on 5th Street, just off C Ave. All concerts will play rain or shine. Event times for all shows will begin with a DJ spinning from 5- 6pm, bands will play from 6-9pm. Admission is free; food and beverages will be available for purchase. Weston Plantation Sounds of Summer – 400 Weston Lane, Weston Lane & 21st Avenue, Hopewell

Historic Hopewell Foundation, Inc. presents 9 free and family friendly outdoor concerts at 4 PM every Sunday in May and June. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks or picnics. All Manor of Things Gift Shop open during concerts
