Get ready to see a stream of Fire Trucks large and small, new and old make their way down the historic streets of Richmonds oldest neighborhood. Leading the parade will be Honor Guards, Fire Fighter Marches, Motorcycles and BAGPIPES! Firefighter/EMS demonstrations, Firefighter/EMS Olympics, Firefighter auction, Children’s area, Music by several bands throughout the day, Halligan Bar & Grill will be serving their delicious BBQ, The Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association will be serving a selection of adult beverages

Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration – Saturday starting at 3pm; Manchester Docks
This commemoration of Juneteenth National Freedom Day will feature a full palette of performers and speakers, who will present according to the theme. A constructive way to pay homage to enslaved Africans upon whose backbone Virginia was sustained from the twelfth year following the English settlement, Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration 2010 re-examines the legacy of their contribution and their forfeiture. It provides a cultural framework for building bridges of understanding. Admission is free.
Juneteenth Spectatcular – Saturday Noon-5pm; Henrico Theatre, 305 E Nine Mile Rd
All ages can join the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of African-American freedom “Juneteenth” from noon to 5 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre. The opening ceremony kicks off with a performance by Elegba Folklore Society followed by an Apollo-style showcase to highlight local talent as a “Tribute to Apollo’s 75th Anniversary.” Guest speaker Wendell Scott Jr., son of the first African-American NASCAR Driver to win the Sprint Cup Series, will speak. Wrapping up the afternoon is a showing of the movie “Greased Lightning,” loosely based on Scott’s biography. Richmond Raceway will offer special activities throughout the day. Join us for the 3rd Annual “Jammin’ on the James,” Wilton House Museum’s free summer concert series. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on our grass terrace overlooking the James River. Enjoy walk-through tours of Wilton, Richmond’s only 18th century public plantation home. Kids will be entertained by colorful face-painting and many fun games while parents revel in the sounds of the live melodies.
