I had an opportunity to shop the Pinstripes & Polkadots children’s consignment sale this morning. It’s being held in the basement of St. Edward Epiphany School, at 10701 W. Huguenot Road with lots of signs showing the way.

There was plenty of space to maneuver, except around the toy tables. I appreciated the taller-than-usual height of the racks for browsing.

$5 was by far the most popular price point on clothes, which made for better deals on girls’ outfits than boys’ separates. I was impressed with the maternity rack selection, and not so much with the toy and book options. I picked up a “Magna Doodle” style drawing pad for $4. A Dutailier glider and ottoman were listed for $200. Strollers were $25 and up. As always, I saw a few pricing decisions that made me wonder. A pair of scuffed Stride Rites for $25?

Tags are not barcoded, but there was no wait to check out. Pinstripes & Polkadots focus is on “Going Green” and the earth-friendly side of second-hand shopping; I received a reusable shopping bag with my purchase.

The sale continues through 7pm tonight, and from 8am to noon tomorrow, with some items going to 50% off.
