This morning, I popped in briefly to check out the Kids Layne Consignment Sale going on this weekend at Willow Lawn Mall. It’s located in a storefront between Rack Room Shoes and Suntrust.

Kids Layne is a semi-annual children’s clothing sale featuring consigned nearly new boutique clothing and designer overstocks. We strive to stock only the finest labels in children’s clothing so that you do not have to dig through mounds of clothes looking for the best items. We sell clothing in sizes newborn to 12 years.

Although it wasn’t as big a sale as some of the ones I’ve visited, the room was full of high-quality, cute stuff. I’m not familiar with many of the high-end brands of children’s wear, so some of the boutique names and prices didn’t mean a lot to me. I did see used and new “smocked” style children’s clothes, priced up to $27 for an outfit, and a wide selection of holiday outfits in the center. There were also shoes, hair bows, smocked diaper covers, and more.

This probably isn’t the right sale for someone looking to build a basic, cheap kid’s wardrobe. Consigned items under $10 were given their own relatively small section. I did pick up a Children’s Place dress shirt for $2, and on the outerwear rack, I saw a great size 5 boys coat from the Children’s Place for $8.

But Kids Layne looks like a great money-saving resource for moms who love to dress their little ones in the look and quality of boutique clothes. (Plus, tomorrow afternoon between 12:30 and 3pm selected items will be 50% off!)
