Free & Cheap Events May 22-25

Hope no one gets hypothermia hanging out in the pool this Memorial Day weekend! There are fewer organized activities because of the holiday, which always seems backwards to me.

Friday night is The Zac Brown Band playing Friday Cheers on Browns Island, and Fourth Friday art openings just across the river in Manchester.

Enjoy music, hot dogs, and games during May Play Day on Saturday at Armour House and Gardens at Meadowview Park (10am-2pm, 4001 Clarendon Rd) And if you haven’t had your fill of strawberries this season, don’t miss the Strawberry Fields Festival at Gallmeyer Farms Berry Patch, (3622 Darbytown Court) where you can pick you own and hear live music starting at 11am.

Memorial Day, very appropriately, hosts a number of free “memorial” events– Ceremonies at the Virginia War Memorial and Fort Harrison National Cemetery, a Carillon concert in Byrd Park, and a parade at Lakeside Elementary.
