Richmond.com just published an updated version of its useful “Cheap Date Night” list – a collection of weeknight deals offered by local restaurants (with an emphasis on Fan/Downtown eateries)
From Sunday through Thursday, there’s a good deal happening somewhere – including the classic “Cheap Date Night” package offered by Avenue 805 on Mondays and Tuesdays (a large salad, a large bowl of pasta, a dessert, and a bottle of house wine all for $35) and $1 burger Mondays (with beverage purchase) at Capital Ale House. If you’re a wine-drinker, you can take advantage of the number of establishments that offer half-price wine nights.
While fairly comprehensive, there are too many restaurants and too much industry turnover for one article to cover all the options. Therefore, it’s always worth keeping an eye out for similar deals at your favorite local place (check websites and postings in the restaurant itself), and even asking if they have weekly specials. For instance, I just saw an ad on Style Weekly’s site for Zed Cafe on Lakeside, offering a Tuesday and Wednesday Prix Fix menu – 3 courses for $23.99 and a half-price bottle of wine.
Have I tried any on the list? I’m rather ashamed to say I haven’t, but I’ll keep them in mind the next time my husband and I get a night away from the baby (ie, probably not anytime soon!)
